What is the Child and Adult
Care Food Program?

What is it and how can it help you?

Good nutrition plays a very important role in the health and proper growth of
young children.  The Child Care Food Program is a federal program funded by
your tax dollars, by Congress in response to the need to ensure good nutrition for
the children of working parents.  The Program helps Licensed and Registered Day
Homes provide wholesome and attractive meals that meet children's nutritional
needs by offsetting food expenses.  As a participant in this program, providers
receive a monthly reimbursement check for the meals and snacks served which
meet basic nutritional requirements.

Are you eligible for benefits?

All Registered and Licensed Day Care Home providers who are with the Texas
Department of Family and Protective Services, Licensing Division, which care for
at least one non-residential child, are eligible to participate in the program.
Providers who meet USDA income eligibility standards can also receive
reimbursement for meals for their own residential children under the age of 13
years.

What reimbursement can you receive?

Day Care home providers who prepare and serve meals that meet the program
meal pattern requirements may claim a maximum of 2 meals (breakfast, lunch, or
supper) and 1 snack, or 1 meal and 2 snacks for each child cared for each day.
The current reimbursement rates are: Effective July 1st 2010
